Orthopraxy

Bonus Word: Orthodoxy

Zoroastrians, the oldest monotheistic religion, practice Orthopraxy, not Orthodoxy. Your beliefs don’t matter. Your behavior does. In religion, orthopraxy is correct behavior and orthodoxy is correct beliefs.

Regardless of why you choose to do something that helps someone, it is still good. Regardless of why you choose to do something that hurts someone, it is still wrong. “The road to hell is paved with good intentions” conveys the idea that belief in or desire for good does not equate to good or necessarily lead to good outcomes.

So long as you follow the Golden Rules, you are free to believe whatever you wish.

1. Do unto others as you’d have them do unto you.
2. Don’t do to others what you would not have done to you.

Do help others. Don’t hurt others. It’s that simple.
